Iken Church

St Botolph, Iken

2 min walk

A stone's throw from The Old Stables, St Botolph's Church is better known as Iken Church. This beautiful, tiny thatched Church was first established as a monastery in 654 A.D. This hidden gem is well worth a visit

Snape Maltings

Shops, Food, Music

2 ½ Miles

Take a walk down the estuary (about 30 minutes) to Snape Maltings, It's a great place to shop, eat and drink or take in some art or music. It has lots of local shops, a café, a world famous music hall which host great concerts. The Plough and Sail Pub is the perfect place to stop for a Gin and Tonic and serves quality, seasonal food, using local produce.

Orford

Suffolk Costal Community

Orford is a lovely little town situated on the bank of the River Ore. Why not visit Orford Castle and then go buy lunch from one of the famous local food shops. Pump Street bakery and Pinney's fish shop are definitely a must for the foodies out there.

Suffolk Seaside Town

Sutton Hoo is a Anglo-Saxon royal burial site and definitely well worth a visit when visiting The Old Stables. Great for day out especially for those interested in archaeology.

Friday Street Farm Shop is a great place to start if you're looking for locally grown and sourced food to cook back at The Old Stables self catering kitchen. Maybe visit the butcher and get something to put on the BBQ, or stop in at Maximus for some sustainably caught fish.
